Wire Preheating
ProThermic Wire Pre Heaters cover a wide range of applications from small electronic wires to power cables. Wire preheating ensures adhesion and electrical characteristics of the wire insulation, ensuring cable quality, especially at increased production speeds. Specialist RC Rolling Contact preheaters are used for Aluminum wire and several of our preheaters are capable of twin wire preheating. The ProThermic range of preheaters can be used as stand-alone machines or fully integrated with your PLC and Industry 4.0 solution.

Preheating FAQs
Why preheat wire before insulation extrusion?
It ensures the insulation bonds and cures properly, especially at higher production speeds — without preheating, adhesion and electrical characteristics of the insulation can suffer.
What's the difference between standard and RC (rolling contact) preheaters?
RC preheaters use a ceramic rolling contact instead of a sliding shorting pulley, purpose-built for aluminum wire, which wears standard contacts faster than copper.
How many preheater sizes does Proton offer?
Seven series covering wire from 0.1 mm to 60 mm diameter: PH100, PH160, PH300, PH300-RC, PH360, PH450, and PH600.
What does "TW" mean?
Twin-wire — several ProTHERMIC models can preheat two wires simultaneously.
